Elvis Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Presley grew up with his family during the Depression Era and as a child, listened to all sorts of different music and immediately fell in love with many artists he was hearing.
Presley grew up with the musical influences of famous singers from the South who were known to be as less “respectable” than the usual artist played on the radio during that time. He soon became the first rock and roll artist to establish a continuing film career, independent of his appearance in performance, and he was the first to have a series of “million seller” recordings. |
At a time when Elvis was beginning to be very famous, he was only 23 years old when he got a letter telling him that he was drafted into the army. In 1960, he was finally discharged from the army.
Presley had an interesting life growing up and becoming a man. Not only did he have a great voice and dance moves, but he also had talent, good looks, good sense of humor, and good charm. All of these characteristics made millions of people fall in love with him.
